MAMA CASS ELLIOT: MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC.

Ellen Naomi Cohen and also known as MAMA CASS or CASS ELLIOT, was an American singer and member of The Mamas & the Papas. After the group broke up, she released five solo albums. Cass died at the age 34 of a heart attack. But her legacy has influenced contemporary pop music. We chose MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC one of her hits from 1969. Today is a recurring song for films such as "Beautiful Things" (Hettie McDonald, 1996) and series like "Lost".

LYRICS

Nobody can tell ya
There's only one song worth singing
They may try and sell ya
Cause it hangs them up to see someone like you

But you've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along

You're gonna be nowhere
The loneliest kind of lonely
It may be rough going
Just to do your thing's the hardest thing to do

But you've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along

So if you cannot take my hand
And if you must be going
I will understand

You've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along
You've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music...

You went directly to my heart with this song. You already know I love Mama Cass, her voice and being the soul of my dear The mamas and the papas, one of my early musical references. And this song is so beautiful, I love it. Beautiful choice!!!

I felt in love of Mama Cass' Songs, watching "Beautiful Things" one of my favourite films for last years. I Knew her before the film. But I paid much more attention from that moment. And I immerse myself in her discography and in The Mamas & The Papas' discography.
