IRON & WINE: NAKED AS WE CAME

Behind the name IRON AND WINE  hides Sam Beam. A musician, singer and songwriter from Florida, but rooted in South Carolina. His sound, which dominates the acoustic guitar and banjo, has been compared to Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake and Neil Young. The labels have made music from "Iron & Wine" ranging from alternative country, progressive folk and Indie folk. We can say  that Iron & Wine's music is beauty, pure and simple. Although Beam songbook is extensive and interesting, we have chosen this beautiful video of one of his most emblematic songs: NAKED AS WE CAME from his second album "Our Endless Numbered Days" (2004).

LYRICS

She says "wake up, it's no use pretending"
I'll keep stealing, breathing her.
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes 'round the yard

She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms
Eyes wide open, naked as we came
One will spread our ashes round the yard
